'Africa is an attitude that needs to be lived,' reads the sign on the door to the bar at Oshandira Lodge. This philosophy is reflected in the very fabric that holds this stunning place together. It seeps out of the decor and permeates the atmosphere which speaks of peaceful, quiet and spacious relaxation. That is until the stars come out and the night comes alive. The happy chatter comes from guests who feel at home enough to be called friends and locals who pop in for a drink and a little of 'the best food in the north,' as one was eager to point out. Oshandira Lodge offers 16 rooms all decorated in wood and bush-land craftsmanship with all the modern conveniences like DSTV (5 channels), telephone, air-conditioning and en-suite facilities.
The pleasant swimming pool forms the centre of the relaxation area, which is framed by the bar on one side and the restaurant on the other. The bar opens from about 10' o clock in the morning and stays open until the last person leaves, while the restaurant caters for breakfast, lunch and a dinner with a reputation that spreads far and wide. Seafood is a house specialty. Everything runs smoothly at the hands of the 32 staff members who are so geared towards personalised service that they even remember your name!
