Goanikontes Oasis Rest Camp

Swakopmund

Lodges Camping Hiking Family-friendly Functions
Goanikontes Oasis Rest Camp is situated only 35 kilometres from Swakopmund. Whether visitors are taking the famous Welwitschia Tour or exploring the Moon Landscape in the Namib Naukluft and Dorob National Parks, it is the perfect stopover for a slice of homemade cake or for taking a quick hike in the almost surreal landscape.

With the Swakopmund River only 50 m away from the rest camp, Goanikontes offers beautiful natural surroundings and a welcome break from the coastal fog. Visitors can expect clear skies, which is ideal for stargazing at night or witnessing an eclipse, an occurrence that is oftentimes missed directly at the coast due to the fog.

The heart of the business lies within the kitchen. The on-site restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and delicious treats. There are 12 campsites available, each with its own braai. The camping grounds have a central power supply and communal bathrooms. Otherwise guests can opt for the comfortable bungalows, each with its own braai area. There are two family units that accommodate four people, and one family unit for five people. The two-room bungalows are ideal for families who wish to stay together.

The bungalow igloos are unique domed buildings that offer a cool interior, which will essentially guarantee a serene night’s rest. Four of these special bungalows have twin beds. Each has its own private bathroom and individual braai facility. A hearty breakfast is included in the price.

With so much sunshine there are plenty of activities to choose from. After hiking or mountain biking, cool down in the natural swimming pool. Several footpaths will take you into the geological fascinating mountains from where hikers will be treated with marvellous views of Goanikontes Oasis and its surroundings.

Goanikontes Oasis also welcomes day visitors to take part in the activities and enjoy a braai with friends and family in the shade of the tree canopies. Furry friends are allowed to join in the fun, which means that families can bring along their dogs. All types of visitors will enjoy this tranquil oasis, especially families with children. Children will especially enjoy the small animal park and the playground. With the large bird variety, keen bird-watchers will have plenty to keep themselves busy with.

Group events can be hosted in this idyllic setting, be it a picturesque wedding to a corporate lunch event, a family gathering to a high school reunion. The talented team will provide delectable cuisine, attentive service and flawless event planning. It comes as no surprise that many couples have chosen this stunning oasis to capture the memories of their perfect day. Up to 120 people can be comfortably catered for.
