Description
The tour begins at the Walvis Bay lagoon RAMSAR site, where you can observe various bird species including flamingos, pelicans, avocets, and terns. Your guide will explain the ecological importance of these wetlands.
Next, visit Dune 7, one of Namibia’s tallest accessible sand dunes, with an optional hike to the summit. After a 30-minute drive, cross into Namib Naukluft National Park to see unique desert flora such as extensive lichen fields.
The tour continues to the “moonlandscape,” a distinctive terrain shaped by the Swakop River’s flow toward the Atlantic Ocean, offering expansive views. Then, stop at the Welwitschia fields to observe this ancient plant, often called a living fossil.
After a refreshment break at Goanikontes, proceed to Swakopmund, a city known for its preserved German colonial architecture.
