Hot Air Ballooning Swakopmund

Swakopmund

Ballooning
Hot air ballooning Swakopmund offers the ultimate sky adventure. View the breathtaking landscapes from a different perspective as you soar up to 3500 ft above the ground.

No two flights can ever compare and each one promises to be a life-changing experience. Hot air ballooning Swakopmund is licenced by the Civil Aviation Authority and the pilot holds a full commercial balloon pilot’s licence.

A flight takes around 45 minutes to an hour and is done in a small group of maximum eight passengers. Set aside at least four hours for the entire excursion. A shuttle is arranged to pick you up and drop you off at your desired location.

Considering suitable clothing, layers are the best option. It is recommended to wear a cap or another hat as the burners overhead often tend to get warm. Also, put on comfortable shoes that are suitable for walking. You might want to ensure that your camera batteries are charged, because the flight is a marvellous opportunity for aerial shots.

Passengers usually enjoy helping with the inflation and deflation of the balloon. If you are up for it, you can help to prepare for take-off and landing. In this case, consider wearing clothes that you do not mind getting dirty.

Flights take place in the morning and some evenings, seven days a week during the ballooning season, which is usually all year, but it always depends on the weather conditions. Concerning passengers, the only requirements are that you should be ten years or older, and under 16s must be accompanied by adults. All passengers must be able to see over the edge of the basket and adopt the landing position, which will be demonstrated to you when receiving a short brief before the flight.

A traditional champagne breakfast awaits when you land. Your pilot Martin Lofty-Eaton will sign your personalised certificate to prove that you have partaken in this airborne adventure.

What to expect:
  • greeting and passenger registration
  • full pilot briefing
  • invitation to help with the inflation of the balloon to prepare for take off
  • around 45 minutes to an hour’s flight in a hot air balloon as part of a small group of passengers (up to 8)
  • invitation to help with the balloon after landing
  • traditional champagne breakfast or soft drink
  • personalised certificate signed by your pilot Martin Lofty-Eaton
  • retrieval service back to your accommodation in one of our vehicles

The nature of hot air balloons means no two flights are ever the same. So, where you’ll fly and what you’ll see, be it where the desert meets the sea, the desert only or the natural beauty of Namibia, is really up to the wind. One thing’s for sure though, this is a story you’ll be telling for years to come.
