Although time very nearly stands still in Namibia's hidden wildlife paradise of the Kavango region, the newly established Divava Okavango Resort & Spa is a welcome addition to the southern bank of the mighty Okavango River, close to the never-ending murmur of Popa Falls.
A wealth of Africa's spectacular birds and a wide range of game species are within easy reach of Divava Resort & Spa - in fact many birds and river creatures are visible from every room, including the Spatreatment rooms and the main reception area with its spectacular river viewing deck.
Evident everywhere is the care with which the Resort buildings have been designed and built to blend with the environment yet offer spectacular views of the river-scape.
The Resort itself offers luxuriously styled chalets, a bush bar, restaurant and swimming pool in addition to the viewing deck and the extensive Spa, where the unique experience of river-watching during a relaxing massage, sauna, hydro bath or steam treatment may be enjoyed by Guests.
Most Guests will want to take the short 14km drive to Mahango Game Reserve, famous for its abundance of wildlife including Elephant, Buffalo, Sable and Roan Antelope, Bushbuck, Reedbuck and Tsessebe.
Many other species will no doubt be sighted during any and every visit which may be self-driven or a guided safari-style game-drive organised by the Resort.
Resort-based river activities include Boat Cruises to the Popa Falls during which hippos and crocodiles may be sighted, as well as special opportunities like breakfast on a neighbouring island.
