Ruacana Falls

The falls cascade down a 120m drop just 15km from the town of Ruacana. Due to the Calueque Dam across the Angolan border however, the falls are but a fraction of their former glory. The riverside is dotted with quaint lodges offering a variety of water sports on the Kunene river while the Ruacana Hydroelectric plant has three turbines conducting approximately 240 megawatts of electricity. When the area does receive good rains the Ruacana may briefly relive its former grandeur.
