The Ndhovu Collection – Riverside Safari Lodges, Wildlife and Okavango River Experiences in Namibia

Experience the beauty of Namibia's north-eastern waterways with The Ndhovu Collection, a family of riverside safari retreats situated on the banks of the magnificent Okavango River near Divundu in the Kavango East Region. Combining authentic African hospitality, comfortable safari accommodation and unforgettable nature experiences, The Ndhovu Collection offers guests the opportunity to experience one of Namibia's most beautiful wildlife regions. With views across the river towards protected wilderness areas, the collection is an ideal destination for safari travellers, couples, families, birdwatchers, anglers and self-drive explorers.

The collection includes two distinctive properties: Ndhovu Safari Lodge and Ndhovu Enclave, each offering its own style of riverside accommodation and camping.

Ndhovu Safari Lodge – An Authentic Okavango Safari Experience

Established in 1990, Ndhovu Safari Lodge is an established riverside safari destination overlooking the Buffalo area of Bwabwata National Park. Its accommodation includes luxury safari tents, riverside suites and land suites, offering guests a choice of comfortable tented accommodation or more spacious private suites. The safari tents feature en-suite bathrooms, mosquito nets and private wooden terraces overlooking the Okavango River. The suites offer additional space and amenities, with selected units featuring kitchenettes and private outdoor seating areas.

Guests can relax beside the swimming pool, enjoy meals at the restaurant, or unwind on the wooden river deck while watching the activity along the water. Camping facilities are also available for travellers who prefer a more independent outdoor experience.

Ndhovu Enclave – A More Secluded Riverside Retreat

Ndhovu Enclave is the newer addition to the collection, offering a more intimate and secluded accommodation experience beside the Okavango River. Its canvas-sided tented units combine the atmosphere of a traditional safari tent with modern comforts, including en-suite bathrooms, private patios and beautiful river views. A particularly distinctive feature is the outdoor bathtub, allowing guests to enjoy a relaxing bath surrounded by the sights and sounds of the African bush. The Enclave also offers private campsites with individual ablution facilities, electricity, covered seating areas and barbecue facilities.

Wildlife Safaris and Okavango River Activities
The Ndhovu Collection provides an excellent base for exploring the wildlife and waterways of the Kavango Region. Guests can enjoy guided game drives in nearby Mahango and Buffalo areas of Bwabwata National Park, where elephants, buffalo, hippos, antelope and other wildlife can be encountered.

Boat cruises along the Okavango River offer another perspective of this remarkable ecosystem, with opportunities to observe hippos, crocodiles, elephants and abundant birdlife. Sundowner cruises provide a particularly memorable way to experience the river as the sun sets over the surrounding wilderness.
Additional activities include fishing excursions, birdwatching, guided nature walks and cultural experiences that introduce visitors to local communities and traditional ways of life.

A Paradise for Birdwatchers and Nature Lovers
The Okavango River and its surrounding floodplains support an exceptional diversity of birdlife, making the area a rewarding destination for birdwatchers and photographers. More than 400 bird species have been recorded in the wider area, including colourful kingfishers, bee-eaters, herons and other water-associated species.

The seasonal changes of the Okavango River create a constantly evolving landscape. During the rainy season, rising water levels can transform the surrounding floodplains and give the lodge area an island-like character.

Discover Namibia's Kavango Region
The Ndhovu Collection is ideally positioned for exploring the natural attractions of north-eastern Namibia, including Mahango Game Park, Buffalo Park, Popa Falls and the wider Bwabwata National Park. The location also offers opportunities for travellers continuing towards Botswana, the Okavango Delta and the Victoria Falls region.

Whether you are looking for an authentic safari lodge, a luxury tented escape, a riverside camping experience or an adventure-filled holiday exploring Namibia's waterways, The Ndhovu Collection offers two distinctive ways to experience the beauty and wildlife of the Okavango River.
