The Sesriem campsite derives its name from the Sesriem canyon which is nearby. Camping at Sesriem ensures a great start for those on their way to Sossusvlei. The high, red sand dunes which surround Sossusvlei form part of the sand sea, which stems from just north of Luderitz to the Kuiseb River. Some of the dunes found here are as high as 220m.
Accommodation at Sesriem consits of 24 campsites located in the shade of the camelthorn trees. Each campsite has its own fireplace and tap. There are public telephones, a petrol station and a shop for guests' convenience. The shop stocks an array of beer, soft drinks and basic groceries, however guests are encouraged to bring along their own staples just in case.
There is a swimming pool where guests can cool off after a day of sightseeing at Sossusvlei and a small thatched bar serves beer and cool drinks. There is a communal ablution block as well.
Attractions and activities include Sesriem Canyon, Sossusvlei and Elim Dune, which is a petrified dune near the camp.
