After the engines are revved up and ready to roll, an experienced guide will lead you through the Swakopmund River mouth into the dune belt.  Feel the freedom of riding through one of nature's great wildernesses. As the towering dunes approach, you’ll weave your way through the smaller dunes towards the Amphitheater. Power up and blast your way to the top of the first big dune via the Roller Coasters to the top of Big Billy. Stop for a drink and get the opportunity to capture the stark and savage beauty of the Namib Desert. After riding down Devil’s Dip, ride the berms, spirals and slopes as you cruise towards the Table Top, a great dune that offers a spectacular view of the sea. Important Information

  • There is no age restriction on the quad biking. Children can ride the quads as long as their legal guardian signs a liability form. If children cannot drive, then they ride as passenger with one of the adults. Note that we block out activities during the busy season.

Description

Enjoy the most spectacular desert sceneries and capture the interplay between light and shadows in the dunes, as well as the sun setting into the Atlantic ocean at Sandwich Harbour. Departing from the Walvis Waterfront, the drive initially takes us through the Kuiseb river delta, a dry riverbed where the odd springbok, oryx or jackal may be spotted. As this area forms part of our Kuiseb Delta Concession, we are the only activity operator allowed to access this area. If weather and tides allow, we will drive right to the Sandwich Harbour Lagoon along the beach, one of Southern Africa’s richest and unique wetlands and one of five RAMSAR sites (Ramsar site no. 743) in Namibia. Sandwich Harbour boasts two distinct wetlands and associated mudflats. Wedged between the sea and the Namib Dunes, it is one of Namibia's most important coastal wetlands, supporting eight endangered species among the large numbers of wading birds. If our vehicles cannot drive all along the beach to get to Sandwich Harbour because of high tide, you will get a chance to see the lagoon area from one of our many beautiful lookout spots and will have the time to walk and explore. We have lots of time to stop along the way for photography. When the sun has set and the light has diminished, we find a suitable place to stop and serve a selection of oysters and snacks with sparkling wine, beers and cooldrinks. We usually do this on top of a high dune, between the dunes or on the beach. We will be returning at around 20h00.

Enjoy an unforgettable safari day in Etosha National Park, guided by a passionate professional who was born and raised in Etosha. The tour begins at park opening time, with departure from Anderson Gate, near Okaukuejo. Free, secure, and easily accessible parking is available on-site, allowing travelers to drive themselves directly. It is highly recommended to meet at Anderson Gate in your own vehicle, as this allows you to be among the first vehicles to enter the park and avoids unnecessary delays or fuel consumption. Mornings in Etosha can be very cold, especially in an open vehicle. It is strongly advised to bring warm clothing, especially during the winter months (May to August). The safari is conducted in an open 4x4 vehicle, specially designed for wildlife viewing. The route is not fixed: it is adapted daily based on weather conditions and the latest animal sightings, to maximize your chances of seeing Etosha’s iconic species—elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, rhinos, springboks, oryx, and sometimes even leopards or cheetahs. A one-hour midday break is planned at a restaurant inside the park. You are free to bring your own lunch or dine at the restaurant (meals not included). The second part of the safari continues in the afternoon after lunch. Throughout the day, your guide will share in-depth knowledge of the park, its wildlife, and ecosystem, based on personal lifelong experience in the region. The activity ends in the late afternoon, returning to Anderson Gate or your lodge if previously arranged. Please bring cash to pay for the park entrance fee, which is not included in the safari price. For guests already staying inside the park (Okaukuejo Lodge or Okaukuejo Camp): if we have no other clients scheduled to enter the park that day, you will need to come to Anderson Gate yourself, as we cannot collect guests inside the park without prior clearance. For departures from Halali, bookings must be made at least 48 hours in advance, and you must contact us directly via WhatsApp. A NAD 1,500 surcharge is payable directly to the guide. For departures from Namutoni Gate, booking is also required 48 hours in advance, with a NAD 3,000 surcharge. For all half-day bookings, no pick-up is possible — you must meet directly at Anderson Gate.
