You will be picked up from your hotel and start driving to the Township area of Single Quarter, for Kapana.
Kapana is grilled beef prepared on open fire. Beef is cut into small pieces, grilled and sold as it cooks. As we always said; if you left Windhoek without eating Kapana, don't go tell people you were in Windhoek.
The Namibian Kapana experience is a culinary adventure that's deeply rooted in the vibrant street food culture of Namibia. Kapana, which translates to 'meat' in the local Oshiwambo language, is a beloved dish consisting of grilled or braised meat, typically beef, cut into bite-sized pieces and served hot with a variety of flavorful accompaniments.
What to expect during this Kapana experience:
Street-side Grilling: Kapana is usually prepared and served by street vendors in bustling marketplaces or roadside stalls. You will be able to watch as the vendors skillfully grill the meat over open flames, infusing it with smoky flavor and aroma.
Interactive Cooking: What sets the Kapana experience apart is its interactive nature. Customers can often engage with the vendors, selecting their preferred cuts of meat and even specifying how they want it cooked—whether it's rare, medium, or well-done.
Flavorful Spices: The meat is seasoned with a blend of spices, which may include chili flakes, salt, pepper, and various local seasonings, imparting a rich and spicy taste to the dish.
Accompaniments: Kapana is typically served with an assortment of condiments and side dishes, such as fresh bread rolls, salsa-like tomato-onion relish known as 'kapana sauce,', Pap (
(Porridge) and sometimes hot chili sauces for those who enjoy an extra kick of heat.

After the Kapana session, we will drive back from Oshetu Local Market to a local restaurant, where we will be having lunch/dish with a variety of traditional food, which will continue the sensory journey that encapsulates the essence of Namibian cuisine and hospitality. During this experience, you will immerse yourselves in the country's vibrant culinary scene.
You will then be dropped off at your hotel.
