DescriptionDrive first to the Martin Luther steam tractor, the only material remnant of the first attempt to introduce mechanized transport in Namibia. You will receive a brief description of its history, as well as of Swakopmund and Namibia in general. Afterwards, drive inland to see the stark grandeur of Gross Spitzkoppe. During the drive your guide will offer detailed explanations about the surroundings and, of course, the Spitzkoppe - a perennial challenge to the serious mountaineer. The mountains are brilliantly colored and rise abruptly out of the surrounding plains. After a short introduction to the local Damara people who reside in the area, there will be an opportunity to view the natural flora of the region, before heading to the spectacular rock paintings of the Spitzkoppe. Both the Grosse and Klein Spitzkoppe, as well as the Pontok Mountains and the associated Bushman artwork, are ideal for photography - whether amateur or professional.
