The Namibia Scientific Society cordially invites you along with your family and friends to an interesting evening visit to the Cuno Hoffmeister Memorial Observatory just south of Windhoek.
This English guided excursion is ideal for those who would like to learn more about the wonders of the fantastic night sky in the Southern Hemisphere.
Human eyes can only see a limited amount of stars, but with the aid of special equipment we may discover a totally new “world in the sky”.
The evening starts with an introduction to the Namibian night sky in the lecture hall. Afterwards different kinds of equipment will be available for our visitors to study the stars. Discover the universe with us!

NSS-members and immediate family: N$ 200 per person
Non-members: N$ 250 per person,
children under 12 years: N$ 100
The price includes coffee and cookies, soup with a brötchen, Glühwein and a guided tour through the night.
Please bring your own drinks and do not forget a warm jacket; we shall spend most of the time outside!

Drive along the national road B 1 in the direction of Rehoboth. Shortly before you cross the first bridge, turn left into the road D 1504 towards the Harmony Centre (you will see a big sign board). Turn left again after you
have driven approx. 2 km – the turn off is exactly before the gravel road starts. Pass through the farm gate in the direction of the Harmony Centre. You will reach the Cuno Hoffmeister Memorial Observatory shortly after the
turn off – approx. 300 m at the left hand side.
