Event Details

Sunday 30th April to Saturday 6th May 2017 in the SKELETON COAST NATIONAL PARK
The Sahara Race is one of the four races that comprise the world renowned 4 Deserts Race Series of 250-kilometer, rough-country footraces. In 2017, the Sahara Race will again take place in the stunning desert terrain of Namibia. Competitors will traverse 250 kilometers over seven days (approximately 155 miles) along the coast line of Namibia where the Namib Desert meets the Atlantic Ocean; traverse a dune belt that runs the length of the Skeleton Coast National Park, go through canyons, wide open red desert plains, camp beside salt lakes and run across salt pans, see flamingos, Oryx, springbok, seals, ostrich, zebra and much more wildlife.
About the 4 Deserts Race Series –
The 4 Deserts Race Series is the world’s leading rough-country endurance footrace series. A unique collection of world-class races that take place over 7 days and 250 kilometers in the largest and most forbidding deserts on the planet. Competitors are challenged to go beyond the limits of their physical and mental endurance. Racing self-supported in the most inhospitable climates and formidable landscapes, they must carry all their own equipment and food, and are only provided with drinking water and a place in a tent each night to rest. The series, named again by TIME magazine as one of the world’s Top 10 endurance competitions, comprises the Atacama Crossing in Chile, the Gobi March in China, the Sahara Race in Namibia and The Last Desert in Antarctica.
Expect to see dunes, beach, cliffs, red inland desert, oryx, jackals, a seal colony, ship wrecks, salt pans and inland lakes. A true desert landscape.
